angle-left ADVISORY: Qatar Imposed Temporary Import Suspension on Chilled and Frozen Seafood from the Philippines

The Food Safety and Environmental Health Department of the Ministry of Public Health of Qatar imposed a temporary import suspension on chilled and frozen seafood from various countries, including the Philippines.

The temporary import suspension on chilled and frozen seafood was implemented as a precautionary measure to monitor the risk of contamination of fresh and frozen seafood products with Vibrio cholerae bacteria. The suspension applies to shipments exported as of 08 November 2022. Other countries affected of the temporary suspension are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

EMB reiterates the provisions under the Fisheries Administrative Order No. 210, s. 2001: Rules and Regulations on the Exportation of Fresh, Chilled and Frozen Fishery/Aquatic Products which indicates that only fish products which have been processed in fish processing establishments certified by BFAR to be compliant with the SSOP and HACCP system shall be allowed to be exported. Fish products shall be derived from species whose biological, microbiological and chemical characteristics meet the prescribed standards.
