angle-left ADVISORY: Myanmar Releases New Directive for Labelling Pre-Packaged Foods

The Myanmar's Food and Drug Board of Authority issued a new directive for labeling pre-packaged foods (Directive Order 8/2002).

The directive applies to pre-packaged foods manufactured domestically or imported from other countries.  This will take effect one year after its announcement (20 January 2022) with a three (3) month grace period for large enterprises, six (6) months for medium enterprises, and nine (9) months for small enterprises.

The Directive’s goal is to provide consumers information concerning quality, safety and health of pre-packaged foods and better equip consumers to make informed choices, to  comply with local and international standards and to support traceability mechanism.

The DTI-Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB) strongly advises Philippine exporters to Myanmar to work closely with their  importers to ensure compliance to the new regulation. For information and guidance Philippine exporters may also refer to attached Directive Order for labelling of pre-packaged foods.
