angle-left ADVISORY: EU Approves PH Food Manufacturers' Use of Imported Molluscs in Composite Products

The European Union (EU) issued Commission Implementing Decision 2022/1390 which approves the Philippines’ request to export composite products containing processed products from molluscs imported from the EU and/or EU accredited third countries.

All third countries producing composite products derived from molluscs, insofar as the processed bivalve molluscs either originate from Member States or third countries listed in Annex VIII to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/405 are marked with a “P” in the column “Aquaculture” in the table in the Annex to this Decision.

Council Directive 96/23/EC allows exporting countries to submit their respective residue monitoring plans that provide required guarantees to their official control system relating to their specific animal and animal-based products entering the EU market. For the Philippines, all residue monitoring plans shall be submitted to the  Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) for assessment.
