angle-left ADVISORY: Regulations for Food Exports to the United States

The United States’ Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service [USDA, APHIS], and the U.S Food and Drug Administration [USFDA] have issued regulations for food exports to the United States.

Philippine exporters of food products to said market are advised to be cognizant of these regulations by visiting the following links provided by these two U.S. government agencies:

  1. USDA Seeks User Feedback on New Agricultural Commodity Import Requirement Portal [Published on April 13, 2021]
    The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has developed a new portal to simplify access to entry requirements for agricultural commodities imported into the United States. APHIS’ Agricultural Commodity Import Requirements (ACIR) online portal allows users to use a simple search interface to locate and display import requirements. APHIS will use the feedback to improve the user experience as they continue to develop the interface.

  2. FDA Extends Flexibility for Unique Facility Identifier Requirement for Food Facility Registration through December 2022 [March 30, 2021 Constituent Update]
    Domestic and foreign facilities that manufacture, processes, pack, or hold food for human or animal consumption that are registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration may obtain and submit a unique facility identifier UFI until December 31, 2022.

Philippine exporters of food products to said market are encouraged to visit these websites to guide them in complying with the export documents required and processed by the U.S. government agencies. This will avoid delays in getting clearance of their food products from the U.S. customs.
