angle-left ADVISORY: Japan Agrees to Alternative Arrangements of the Presentation of Original Phytosanitary Certificates

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan has agreed to accept Certificate of Authenticity for Phytosanitary Certificates (PCs) issued by the Philippine Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) required for Philippine exports of bananas and pineapples to Japan for the time being.

The said certificates were previously issued by the Agricultural Attaché at the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, Japan for some consignments of Philippine fresh commodities that arrive in Japan without accompanying original PCs due to delays in the logistic part of the export shipments which is likely to happen as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic.

To facilitate processing of the consignment upon arrival, a copy of the PC should be sent to BPI through their official email at pqsbpi@yahoo.com or pqsbpi@gmail.com. The BPI upon verification of authenticity of the PC from the issuing port would issue the certificate and send via email to the Japan Plant Protection Organization.

Furthermore, the original PC should still be submitted to the Japan Plant Protection Organization as soon as possible.
